February 17, 2022
Dear STGRSD Families,
As you are aware, the 5th and 6th grade wing at Powder Mill School has been closed since January 18, 2022 due to a water leak that caused extensive damage. Since that time, we have worked closely with the insurance claim adjuster and our environmental consulting and industrial hygiene firm to identify all water-damaged building materials and to ensure that all excess moisture has been removed from the affected spaces. We are pleased to report that the restoration process has begun.
Based on the estimated duration of the restoration process, the timeline for returning to classrooms must be adjusted as follows:
Grade 5 and grade 6 classrooms will remain relocated through March 18, 2022. This includes grade 6 classrooms at Southwick Regional School (7-12).
All classrooms will remain in their current spaces through March 18, 2022. Students in grade 6 will continue to follow the Powder Mill schedule with drop-off and pick-up at Southwick Regional School (7-12). This added step in the Powder Mill bus runs may result in delays for Woodland School bus transportation for some students.
We understand the disruption this has caused to families and staff and we appreciate everyone’s continued cooperation and patience. If there are any further changes to the timeline, we will let you know as soon as we are able.
Sincerely,
Southwick-Tolland-Granville
Regional School District
